Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
시험을 참는 자는 복됩니다. 왜냐하면 그 시험을 견디는 자는 하나님께서 그를 사랑하는 자에게 약속하신 생명의 면류관을 받을 것이기 때문입니다.

When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone;
누구든 시험을 받을 때, 하나님께서 나를 시험한다고 말하면 안됩니다. 왜냐하면 하나님은 악에게 유혹당하지도 않으시고 누구를 유혹하시지도 않기 때문입니다.

but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed.
하지만 누군가 유혹받을 때, 그의 개인적인 욕심으로, 유혹받고 이끌리는 것입니다.

Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
그러면, 욕심이 생기고 나서, 그것이 죄를 가져오게 됩니다. 그리고 죄가 장성하면, 죽음에 이르게 됩니다.  

Don't be deceived, my dear brothers.
친애하는 형제님들, 속지 마십시요.

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
모든 좋은 것과 완전한 것은 위로부터, 즉 회전하는 그림자도 없는 하늘의 아버지로부터 내려옵니다.

He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.
그는 진리의 말씀을 통해 우리에게 생명을 주시려고 선택하셨고, 우리는 모든 창조물의 첫열매가 될 것입니다.

My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,
사랑하는 형제님들, 이것을 기억하세요. 모든 자들이 듣기는 속히하고 말하고 화내는 데에는 천천히 해야 합니다.

for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.
사람의 화는 하나님이 원하시는 의로운 생명을 가져오지 않기 때문입니다.  

Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil
그러므로 모든 더러운 악을 제하여 버리십시오.

that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.
겸손히 당신의 마음에 말씀을 심고 받아들이는 것이 당신을 구원할 것입니다.

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
말씀을 경히 듣지 마시고 당신 자신을 속이지 마십시오. 말한대로 행동하십시오.

Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror
말씀을 듣고 그대로 행동하지 않는 자는 마치 거울에 보이는 얼굴과 같아서 그가 거울에서 멀어지고 난 후에는,

and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.
그의 모습이 어떠했는지 곧 잊혀지는 것과 같습니다.

But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this,
그러나 자유케하는 온전한 율법을 보는 사람이 이것을 계속 행하면,

not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it--he will be blessed in what he does.
그가 들은 것을 잊어버리지 않고 계속 그 선한 일을 할 것입니다. 그러면 그는 그가 행동한 대로 복을 받게 될 것입니다.

If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue,
누구라도 그가 선한 사람이라 생각해서 그의 입에 망을 씌우지 않으면,

he deceives himself and his religion is worthless.
그는 그자신을 속이는 것이고 그의 신앙은 무가치합니다.

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this:
우리의 아버지를 정결하고 흠없다하는 신앙은 이것입니다.

to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
고아와 과부들을 그의 곤란한 지경에서 돌보고 그 자신을 더러운 세상으로부터 정결하게 지키는 것입니다.
